This Is It

Finally...

After years of going back and forth on colors to use in my living and dining room area, I have decided on brown/olive brown as my color scheme.  I love this dining room in the June issue of Architectural Digest.

Many years ago the builders accidentally laid brown carpet in my family room instead of the sand color ordered.  Unfortunately, it was after they replaced it that I realized how much I liked the color.

I have always kept tear sheets and magazines, and I noticed that brown was the dominant color saved.  I will use brown and lavender in my bedroom.  So...wish me luck.

I wish I could find the photo that turned on the light in my stubborn brain, but I found these rooms designed by Kelley Proxmire via My Knotting Hill blog.

Domino via Little Green Notebook blog.

I love the fabric used to cover the chairs above.

Shopping Short Takes at Yard SalesIf the sign says “no early birds,” don’t go early. Do not arrive while the seller is getting ready for the sales so that you may get some good deals. That’s considered “dirty pool.” Be quiet because the neighbors may still be sleeping. Do not block a neighbor’s driveway.

Do not leave items in disarray. Leave them the way you found them. Do not haggle, although a little bargaining is ok. Carry small bills and plenty of change. Don’t be upset if the seller can’t make change. They are not a store.

Tomorrow we start a new series, Dealing With Rudeness.

Shopping Short Takes at Spas

Never be late for an appointment. A spa is a relaxed place and you need to keep it that way.

You make talk quietly while getting a massage or other treatment, but it’s ok to be silent.

Do let your therapist know if you are uncomfortable with anything.

NO CHILDREN!

Tomorrow we will cover Shopping Short Takes at Yard Sales.

Shopping Short Takes in beauty Salons.

Always be on time for your appointment. Holding up others is rude. Do not call at last minute to cancel an appointment as this cost the hairdresser money.

If you are unhappy with your results, let your stylist know as soon as possible. If you decide to change stylists, be honest with the. While they do not want to see you leave, it is better to let them know. You should never just disappear.

Tomorrow we will cover Shopping Short Takes at Spas.
