MARY DOUGLAS DRYSDALE ~ DESIGN ON EMBASSY ROW

The über-talented interior designer Mary Douglas Drysdale has certainly been busy lately, and the restoration of this 1920's townhouse, on Embassy Row in Washington, DC, is one of those projects. She had also worked with the previous owners on the home's interior.

Mary is no stranger to historic residences, and she worked diligently to bring back much of the home's original beauty. The attention to detail is obvious here, something Mary is recognized for. The present owners, Bill and Barbara Sullivan, are certainly thrilled with her work.
ENJOY!

ROOM OF THE DAY

This beautiful room was a part of the American Red Cross Designer Showhouse in Palm Beach.  Katherine Shenaman designed the room, and I love the colors and furniture choices.
ENJOY!

WINDSOR SMITH ~ DESIGN IN BRENTWOOD

Can interior designer Windsor Smith's work get any better?  I think not, and then another home appears!  I also love her equestrian themes, and the kitchens are always to die for!  Add in the Spanish and Italian Colonial touch, and this beauty in California is over the top.
ENJOY!

BOBBY MCALPINE AND SUSAN FERRIER ~ ART OF THE HOUSE, REFLECTIONS ON DESIGN

ART OF THE HOUSE
Reflections on Design
By Bobby McAlpine and Susan Ferrier

Rizzoli New York, $55.00

Author, Splendid Sass

If you are familiar with the work of architect and interior designer Bobby McAlpine and interior designer Susan Ferrier, you know that they have created an empire matched by none.  The structures and interiors created by this team are exceptional.

When I peeled away the protective covering of the book and saw its gilded page edges, I knew that I was in for a visual treat,  so I was not surprised to find it filled with the spectacular images we expect from these two brilliant designers.

Art of the Home is a follow-up to the best seller, The Home Within Us.  In their latest bookMcAlpine and Ferrier share their extraordinary talent for creating the utmost in pleasurable interiors.  The five homes showcased on the beautiful Lake Martin in Alabama are filled with a wealth of atmosphere, texture, patina, and hues. The vignettes created here are absolutely stunning.

Bobby and Susan dedicated this book to their partners, Ray Booth, Greg Tankersley, Chris Tippett, and John Sease.  It is the firm's cohesion that has brought it to this level of success.  You will not find a group of more respected and talented architects.

My hometown is Montgomery, Alabama, so I am very familiar with the impact Bobby McAlpine's work has on a town's aesthetics.  What he created here is nothing shy of magnificent.  Included in his work is the Blount Cultural Park, which is home to The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and its beautiful park and gardens. The firm's main emphasis is on creating homes and offices in exclusive locations, beautiful estates, lakefront and beachfront homes, and homes in exclusive neighborhoods throughout, with offices in Montgomery, Nashville, Atlanta, and New York.

Below are just a few of the images I have chosen from the book, and when I say it was difficult to choose, I am not exaggerating.  No doubt you will find this book as beautiful as I do and deserving of that perfect place on the coffee table.  ENJOY!

CABIDOR ~ GREAT STORAGE SOLUTIONS

I don't know about you, but when it comes to storage and de-cluttering in a kitchen, bedroom, or garage, space is always at a premium it seems.  I am one that believes that storage solutions are a number one priority!

I have found a great solution to many of those problems, and it has solved a major problem in the kitchen. It is Cabidor, and it is a creative, award-winning storage solution that transforms the space behind any door into a portable closet. It is a multi-purpose storage and shelving system that cleverly and easily attaches to the hinges of any door to maximize living space and organize clutter. Cabidor’s unique design features an adjustable shelving and retention rod system that allows homeowners to customize storage space to match their unique needs.

Cabidor has the storage space of more than five medicine cabinets and is ideal for storing bathroom supplies, pantry items, craft supplies, laundry and utility room materials, office supplies, beauty products, pet supplies and more.

(an be ordered with attached jewelry section)

Cabidor's patented connection system is completely portable, installs in minutes and is easily detachable.  This makes it ideal for homeowners and renters and can be used in both commercial and residential settings.  It is also great for college dorm rooms.  There is also a mirror with some of the units.

(can order with mirror)

I am enjoying my unit so much.  I emptied two large cabinets, leaving room for more dishes, and had room left over!  I am seriously thinking about two more for the bedrooms.  I love that they are portable, and the ability to adjust shelves is perfect.

and the mini Cabidor is perfect for dorms or smaller areas...

There are five different cabinets and sizes, so head on over to Cabidor and see for yourselves! And to see even more, visit their Facebook page.
