It was love at first sight for me when I saw this home in the February-March issue of Traditional Home. Designed by interior designer Lisa Hildebrand and homeowner and designer Sarah Hamlin Hastings, the home is absolutely stunning. And to finish it off, they show me a zebra rug, beautiful art, and some great antiques.
When Sarah's grandmother asked her to take over the reigns and live in the home, she did just that. With her grandmother's blessing, she and Lisa took over and created a masterpiece. This was a great collaboration between designer, architect, and homeowner. Lisa had previously helped decorate Sarah's Connecticut home.
Bobby McAlpine and David Baker were the architects on the project, whose goals were to add square footage and open up the spaces. The outdoor landscaping was designed by Mike Kaiser and is spectacular, created to lure guest outdoors.
Sarah wanted a home that was a perfect place to bring up children and at the same time entertain. I believe she succeeded.
ENJOY!
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Lisa and founding partner, Jeanette Weldon, opened Welhil Interiors in 2004 after meeting at Christie’s, where they each had successful careers. They have projects from San Francisco to Austin, Palm Beach, Charleston and the East Coast. Lisa holds an Art History degree from the University of Virginia and is originally from Dallas, Texas. She lives in Connecticut with her husband, two little boys and terrier, Rudy.
Seven years at Christie’s in the European Furniture, Carpets and Estates & Appraisals departments afforded her the opportunity to learn from the best and make contacts around the world. She is versatile and can easily shift gears from mid-century Danish to 18th century English.

Love that kitchen and powder room! But love that Lab the best!
The architectural transformation was seamless; and the design was stylish. They made a great team! Rié | Portobello Design Blog
I was blown away at the stylish, clean, and elegant beauty of this entire home. It's so inviting as well. The exterior colors of the walls, trims, entry for, and gutters first sparked my interest! I just love it. Could you share your paint colors for the exterior walls, shutters, trim, and gutters. I'm getting ready to paint the exterior brick and trim of our modest garden home in Birmingham. Thank you.
