I have just finished Slightly South of Simple by Kristy Woodson Harvey. As with the other two books Kristy wrote, Dear Carolina and Lies and Other Acts of Love, I fell in love with this book. Kristy is a great Southern author, writing about strong women and their love and support for each other. Family is at the forefront of each book.
This story is about a close family that is located all over the country, gathering simultaneously at their mother's waterfront home. Circumstances occur in each of the three sister's lives that bring them together, creating a storyline that makes this book one of the best I have read.
Sisters Carolyn, Sloane, and Emerson, their children, and their mother, main character Ansley, are so close, working together to resolve the problems that have brought them all together. Hear the highlights below, in Kristy's words.
What happens when they all get to Peachtree Bluff makes for a time filled with love, comfort, and support for each other in a way that is more than heart warming. These four women are not only towers of strength, they love their family, which is proven in many ways and many times throughout the book.
Kristy, you have written a masterpiece again. I am so proud of you! I can't think of a book that I had rather recommend, and I can't wait for the next one! After spending years in the world of finance, I decided to follow my true passion—curating a life where southern elegance meets southern heritage. That led me to create Splendid Sass, a haven for gathering and sharing my love for design, art and cooking, and TG Hatfield Company, where I embroider fine heirloom linens that will garner hospitality for generations. From the exquisite linens that set the table, to the food that is shared with family & friends, to the warm & cozy room that invites guests, join me as I share the things that inspire me and help create a truly elegant life.
