It would never work for me -- although the pieces and the colours are gorgeous and I definitely love those plates!

Loving the jewel-toned color palette...The green, blue, pink combination is often a popular, fun scheme for Christmas but I'm loving the splashes of purple & orange in this room. Those napkin rings are a cool personal touch also!
