SALVATORE LAROSA AND RONALD BENTLEY ~ DESIGN IN MIAMI

When prominent real-estate firm owners and philanthropists Adam Rose and Peter McQuillan decided to renovate and design a nineteenth floor apartment in Miami as their second home, they called on designers Salvatore Larosa and Ronald Bentley. The designer’s company, B Five Studio, have been designing homes for the couple for 20 years, including the client’s main home in Westchester on fifty-six acres of landscaped land.

After gutting the apartment, the design team began in the middle and worked out designing the home around the media room, designing much of the furnishings themselves. The floor to ceiling windows and the white walls and furnishing showcase their extensive artwork and sculpture pieces.

Landscape architect Douglas Reed designed the terrace of beautiful gardens that surround three sides of the home. ENJOY!

ROBERT BROWN ~ DESIGN FOR MACRAE

First, let me warn you ahead of time about something.  I have just downloaded Lion to my my computer, and it is changing my words.  For example, it changed "catcher" to "catheter" and would not take no for an answer!  I just need to learn more about it and how to use it, but if you get a strange message, blame it on Lion, haha!
***
When Mary Prillaman asked interior designer Robert Brown to design a line of furnishings for MacRae, he obliged. When she divulged that this was her second design request from a southern designer, the first being Bobby McAlpine, I knew that I was going to love this new line. It also tells me that Mary Prillaman has great taste in designers, Robert Brown included.

Brown describes his new line as "simple, refined and functional." I describe it as perfection. ENJOY!

Brown's collection is available through Holland & Company.

ALLEGRA HICKS ~ INTERIOR DESIGN

Interior designer Allegra is full force ahead after her divorce from husband Ashley Hicks, son of David Hicks. Hicks completed design school in Milan, studied trompe l’oeil and fresco painting in Belgium, and later attended Parsons School of Design in New York.  Her line of fabric, rug, and curtain designs show not only evidence of her training, but a natural ability to create.

An eclectic mix of furnishings and art are a backdrop for Hick’s use of fabric, paying special attention to texture, patterns, and color in her London rowhouse. ENJOY!

You can find Allegra’s line of fabric and tabletop accessories at West Elm, and her rugs at The Rug Company.

DESIGN IN MANHATTAN

When photographer Claiborne Swanson Frank walked into her boyfriend’s Manhattan apartment, she didn’t know that she would be engaged to him in ten months, nor did she know that her future mother-in-law would be Cynthia Frank, Elle Décor’s contributing editor at large! They immediately became friends, and Frank helped Swanson design the interior.

Claiborne had grown up in beautiful homes designed by her godfather, the uber talented Thomas Britt.   She had a few good pieces of art to add to an eclectic mix found while visiting some of the best auction houses, vintage shops, and flea markets.  After three years, the couple’s home has evolved into a comfortable, relaxed and chic home.  ENJOY!

CALEB BARBER AND DEIRDRE HEEKIN ~ DESIGN IN VERMONT

Caleb Barber and Deirdre Heekin aren’t your average newlywed couple. The day after they were married, they took off for Tuscany and stayed for a year, coming home a changed couple. They left as dancers and returned home and opened a small restaurant that seats 20 people and a bar that seats 4. Caleb and Deirdre also own a design studio.

The couple’s Vermont cottage is in the town of Woodstock and is surrounded by a vineyard, a winery, an organic garden, and a restaurant and wine bar. Caleb makes some of the furnishing for the home and the restaurant. The style of the home is laid back and a bit formal. ENJOY!

TERRI CANNON-NELSON ~ DESIGN IN NEW JERSEY

Interior designer Terri Cannon-Nelson was no stranger to decorating when she designed the 1941 Cape that she shares with husband Delon and their two children. Nelson has worked for the talented Thomas O’Brien, one of my favorite designers, for 14 years. O’Brien introduced Terri to husband and fitness trainer Delon.

Nelson used an eclectic mix in their home, with two of the major pieces coming from O’Brien’s line of furnishing for Hickory Chair. She added antique and contemporary pieces into the mix. The neutral palette of muted colors gives the home a relaxed feel and an elegant look. ENJOY!
