Some Me Time

The end of the semester is near, so before I start my 2 weeks of studying, I am going to take some ME time. If my posts are strewn here and there for the next couple of weeks, please understand. 

I will try to post something of interest to you on a regular basis, but will be back full force by the end of the month, my loyal friends.  Etiquette posts will also resume.  I can't wait.  I have so much to share!

I will enjoy cafe au laits and cappuccinos.

Time to catch up on notes and books.

Take long and fragrant baths.

Time to primp...

and shop...

eat ice cream and gelato...

and let my hair down and chill.

And most importantly, rest up for the inevitable studying and paper writing.

I promise I will come back refreshed and full force ahead!

House Beautiful Goes Purple

I love House Beautiful magazine, and there is a new guy on the block this month. This piece is everywhere, but from the moment the postman delivered my latest copy I knew that I had to share this fresh, bold, and whimsical, yet traditional, home with you!

The designer, David Kaihoi, designed his one bedroom apartment in New York with purple pizazz. From the living room to the bedroom and closet, this small space was perfectly utilized.

Bye Bye, Hewlett Packard

A break from design for a moment...

I have decided to purchase a Macbook Pro. I have had enough of the OTHER computers. If they can't make a good, reliable computer, they should hang it up.

I believe that the graphics are superior on the Mac. Why would many, if not most, of the interior and graphic design schools prefer, and often require a Mac if this wasn't true?

Well, I have convinced myself that Mac is better, not only by referral, but from first hand knowledge. My daughter and son own a Mac, and I use my daughter's computer every chance I get. I just love it!

 

So..... it's been real HP.  I won't throw you away.  I will need a computer for use at the pool, beach, guest room.  You get my gist.

Left Behind

I don't need to convince any of you that I adore Miles Redd. Another favorite interior designer of mine is David Hicks, and I have previously written a three part post on his new book, A Life of Design.   I will leave the link to these posts at the end of this post.

If you follow my blog, you know that I love brown, and that I am using this color from nature's vast abundance, which I find realtively neutral, to decorate my own home. There are so many options and variations utilizing brown, as shown by Redd and Hicks.

I have included in this post two photographs of a brown room designed by Miles Redd for the Boxwood home shown in this month's Town & Country, which was the subject of my last post.  There are also several rooms designed using brown, which were created by the talented designer David Hicks.
