There is nothing I love more than a beautiful garden, filled with beautiful flowers and herbs, statues, fountains and stones. This garden was built on the beach in Nantucket, presenting problems that are associated with sand and salt water.
Susan and Coleman Burke dug a seven foot deep trench and built a wall to separate the sea and its spray from the lush garden. The Burkes then filled in the garden with soil and gravel, planting lavatera, butterfly bushes, poppies, roses and Russian sage. ENJOY!

Teresa, this is truly an amazing garden. I have always notice that homes along the beachfront are pretty void of gardens. this shows how it can be done and done so beautifully. I loved this post. I am getting all in the mood to spiff up my yard and this is really inspiring. Tomorrows post will show my first roses in bloom. Nothing prettier than the first blooms. Kathysue
nantucket is a fairy tail!

I am sure you knew I would LOVE this. Nantucket is my favorite place to vacation and if I had my way I'd live there. I actually walked around last summer taking photos of gardens... they are amazing. xo
I've been studying this issue for days! I'm convinced it's the setting for my all time favorite movie! Something's Gotta Give! If not...then it is it's twin! Anyway...it's just glorious! Loved seeing it on here!

This is really something! And then to be by the ocean..major bonus! Just gorgeous.....Nantucket is just the ultimate...I love it there.
beautiful old fashioned English flower garden...but of course it looks to current and breathtaking....beautiful gardens start with good designs and it looks as though the owners knew that...

What beautiful gardens and scenery. Adding Nantucket to our list to visit! Loads of garden inspiration as well.

So beautiful! Loved the stone path with the beautiful color. I'm so into gardens right now. I'm on a major project at home right now. I hope you get a chance to see my post today. I revealed the plans from Debra with 5th and State. She did an amazing job. Have a good evening. Mona
So lovely. I can smell the fresh air. :)
