BRIAN MCCARTHY ~ DESIGN IN MANHATTAN

Interior designer Brian McCarthy, formally of Parish-Hadley, used an eclectic mix of many periods to create the stunning decor in his beautiful 1929 home in Manhattan. McCarthy will tell you that decorating his own home was much more of a challenge than the homes of his clients.

McCarthy says that "A room goes through its awkward stage, this its ugly stage, until eventually--hopefully--it gets to its beautiful stage." Anyone who has designed a room will overwhelmingly consider this an understatement! ENJOY!

  1. I guess this room is looong past its ugly stage...the sitting room and the bedroom are my favourites. Loving the new look of the blog by the way.

  7. Teresa,
I just love that quote. How true. I'm still tweaking on most of my rooms. I hope someday to look at them and think....they finally grew into their beautiful stage!

    Happy Monday!

  8. The painting in the third image is fabulous and I tore out the information for future reference. Did you see Libby Cameron's spread in HB this month - another Parrish grad!
