In Celerie Kemble’s latest book, ISLAND WHIMSY: DESIGNING A PARADISE BY THE SEA, she draws the reader in, inviting them into a laid back, beautiful treat. I didn’t want to leave after poring over this book. I loved the water, sand, and the island where the jungles surrounding the homes thrive. It reminded me of days sitting on the front porch of my granny’s house, shaded by huge magnolia trees that surrounded it.
I am overwhelmed by the beautiful ironwork shared throughout the book. The gate that was inspired by a hand-knotted fishing net gifted to Celerie by a friend in the Dominican Republic is one of a kind.
The tiles, sculptures, textures, woven pieces, fabric, and furnishings are lovely, and I can’t leave without mentioning the intoxicating poetry/songs in the book. You get the message, I love the book.
Below are several pictures from the book. ENJOY!
