MARY DOUGLAS DRYSDALE ~ DESIGN ON THE POTOMAC

This jaw-dropping beauty on the Potomac in Maryland was totally renovated, and the interior was designed by the talented interior designer Mary Douglas Drysdale.  This neoclassical home appeared to be a chateau on the river, and for Drysdale it was love at first sight.

It took four years to restore the home known as Marwood.  Drysdale wanted the owner to be able to enjoy the river views from anywhere in the home, so the floor plan was opened up and reconfigured somewhat.

The interior is adorned with beautiful millwork, boiserie which blends with the limestone floors, and elaborate French furnishings.  The tall windows and furnishings are dressed with embroidered linen, and the modern sculpture and paintings offer contrast to the elegant interior.

The home is laden with history and is beautifully written about in the article. Absolutely stunning.  ENJOY!

  4. I am seriously inspired to use the second photo as in inspiration for a powder room I'm disinclined to clutter but want to be compelling. Floor to ceiling frames 360 degrees. simple monochromatic prints, stark frames, white mats. lovely
